"Water in the mountains, a precious resource" from Saturday June 8 at 1:30 pm to Monday June 10 at 4:30 pm
Water is the source of life, but how does it find its way into the mountains? What forms does it take? In what environments? How is it an "inexhaustible" resource, yet one that is becoming increasingly scarce? How is its cycle affected by climate change?
Together, let's discover the beauty and importance of this blue gold as we explore the nature reserve, a protected area and a showcase for remarkable biodiversity!
An educational weekend including various workshops, accompanied by the Contamines-Montjoie nature reserve coordinator and a mountain leader.
Maximum 10 participants aged 9 and over*.
During your stay, you'll discover :
💧Wetlands, where water is stored, filtered and redistributed.
🐑 Pastoralism and areas to preserve
🏔 Glaciers, giant water reservoirs in mutation
🌅 Scientific monitoring (Alpine Sentinels,...)
🦟 The call of the dragonflies
🌊 On a watershed scale, who benefits from water and how (refuge management, alpine pasture needs, hydroelectricity, from the Bonnant to the Arve then ... the sea, ...)
🌏 Landscape reading and sketching
Program:
Day 1 (5 km, 750 D+), Saturday 8/06
> Welcome (1:30pm) at ND de la Gorge
> Ascent and overnight stay at the refuge des Prés along the Bonnant, with discovery of the different vegetation levels.
> Discovery of the alpine pastures and exclosure area.
Day 2 (7 km, 500m D+ and 500m D-), Sunday 9/06
> Lively hike towards La Giettaz via La Balme, landscape reading
> Picnic at the aire de la Giettaz
> Ascent to La Laya (focus on wetlands and their role), the Combe Noire waterfall, then the Tré-la-Tête refuge.
Day 3 (8 km, 150m D+, 900m D-), Monday 10/06
> Ascent to the glacier viewpoint, reading of the landscape, role of glaciers, focus on the hydroelectric section.
> Picnic at the refuge
> Return to ND de la Gorge
Price includes :
🚶♀️ 2 and a half days of mountain exploration supervised by the Contamines-Montjoie nature reserve coordinator and an AMM.
🥪 2 picnics
🛏 2 nights in a dormitory on a half-board basis: 1 night at the refuge des Prés and 1 night at the refuge de Tré la tête (bring your own sheet).
The price does not include:
🥤 Extras (drinks and other personal expenses.)
🥾Essential hiking equipment (list of suggestions to be sent after booking).
This learning experience is made possible thanks to the support of the French government and FNADT-CIMA, to give young people access to the mountains and the discovery of their biodiversity.
Course limited to 10 participants. The organization reserves the right to cancel in the event of an insufficient number of participants. In the event of cancellation by the organization, participants will receive a full refund.
